2023 Elections: YPP House Reps candidate hails INEC on the extension of the timeframe for PVCs collection

Ahead of the 2023 general elections, the Young Progressives Party (YPP) House of Representatives candidate for the Ihiala federal constituency, Barr Johnmary Akachukwu Maduakolam, has commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for extending the timeframe for collection of Permanent Voter Cards(PVCs) by a week.

Barr Maduakolam spoke with journalists in Ihiala, saying the election umpire has proven to be responsible.

He appealed to the staffers of INEC at state and local government levels to adhere to the directive of the national body by working from 8.00 am to 5.00 pm every day, including Saturdays and Sundays, so that people can seamlessly collect their voters’ cards.

The Anambra state-based legal practitioner also urged his constituents to take full advantage of the extension in the days of PVC collection to perform their civic responsibility of electing a candidate of their choice.

“We have said times without number that the responsibility of choosing responsible people to occupy elective positions is a collective one. We can no longer move on as if we do not care about those who represent us. We must decide who we want by voting during elections.

“Many of my constituents have expressed displeasure over the quality of representation they get at the moment. We have also told them that February 25 is a unique opportunity to send me to the green chamber of the National Assembly.

“I have presented my manifesto to my constituents and they are excited about the unprecedented development. That is our commitment to ensure a positive change in Ihiala federal constituency.” Barr Maduakolam asserted.

The YPP House of Representatives candidate said that it has become imperative to take their destinies into their own hands by collecting their PVCs and voting for credible persons during the polls.

Recall that on Saturday, Festus Okoye Esq, the National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee, announced an extension of the timeframe for collecting the voters’ cards.
