2027: Attack on Wike, an attack on Tinubu — APC Chieftain

A Chieftain of the All Progressive Congress (APC) Honorable Stephen Ajiya, has admonished the National Secretary of the party, Ajibola Basiru, and other anti-Nyesom Wike, to steer clear of Rivers State politics, as such means an affront to the 2027 presidential ambition of President Ahmed Bola Tinubu.

Hon. Ajiya, who spoke in an exclusive chat with the Sun newspaper in Abuja, reminded the APC national secretary and other Wike haters of the great achievement and contributions of the Minister that culminated in the 2023 APC’s Presidential election victory. He said that a great number of those hurling and insulting the former Rivers State Governor had forgotten so soon what Wike did that gave victory to the APC during the last Presidential election.

“I can say it again and again, that even those calling for Wike’s sack have done little or nothing to give the APC victory in any election. Some of them were nowhere when he singlehandedly made sure that all Rivers State votes went to the APC, and he stood by it.

Meanwhile, Ajiya has appealed to all anti-Wike groups, not just those meddling in Rivers State’s political issues, but they should strive to equal the achievements of the great man. “Here we are at it again. It is another round of the electoral process, and the first is that of the wards, local government, and state congresses. That is where it begins, and Wike has already gone down to his state to ensure that he prepares grounds in support of his principal, while others saw it as being meddlesome. And I can tell you that those who do this are ‘Abuja politicians’ who never won any elections at their various polling units. We are calling on them all to stop the attack, but try to equal his achievements. This is because the action speaks for itself. They should not forget that what Wike did in the past makes him have such a grip on the State and what he is also performing in the Capital City of Nigeria as the Minister remains a testament to the successful outcome of his tenure as a cabinet Minister under President Tinubu.

Ajiya further highlighting on the achievement of Barrister Wike as the Minister of the FCT, noted that every indegen of the Nation’s capital City, would prefer a Wike again who can bring economic growth through infrastructure development than previous armchair Ministers. “take it or leave it, everyone has a bad side and good side as well, but what matters is the ability to ensure that his good side affects people positively and that is what I have found in him. Wike never asked people to love him, but what he does draws people to him. Many people may not be close to him, but his work is being enjoyed by the people irrespective of ethnicity, religion, or party divide, so people should not just be sentimental about issues”.

Consequently, Hon. Ajiya has appealed to the indigenes of the FCT to ensure they come out in mass to vote merit during the next FCT area council election to further strengthen developmental progress in the FCT. “Today, talks about the positive transformation of the FCT, and no one gave him a chance of anything because we have had a lot of political appointees in the past with failed promises. And I believe that giving him another chance means supporting him with our votes to win the FCT election. Wike is not only in Rivers, but he also wants to deliver the FCT to Mr. President, and that is what every loyal person does to their principal at any election period. So some of us should try and do so and not distract him or badmouth him,” he said.
