The Anambra State Police Command has arrested a twenty five year old suspected member of a proscribed secessionists group, Friday Nnamdi Anyikame .
This was revealed in a press statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for the command, Tochukwu Ikenga (SP)
The PPRO said that the exploit was sequel to an early morning intelligence-led operation on Friday.
“Police operatives attached to Rapid Response Squad, Awkuzu apprehended one Friday Nnamdi Anyikame, male, 25 years, in Ihiala and recovered two pump-action firearms and twenty-nine live cartridges.
“During interrogation, the suspect confessed to being an active member of an armed group and revealed that he operates from a criminal camp located in Ogbaru LGA.” Ikenga said.
Meanwhile, the Anambra State Commissioner of Police, Ikioye Orutugu(CP), while commending the operatives for their swift and coordinated response, has ordered an immediate intensification of security surveillance and targeted raid operations across the State.
He further assured residents that the Command is already closing in on other fleeing members of the gang and is determined to dismantle their criminal network in Anambra.
The CP urged Ndi Anambra to remain vigilant and continue to support the Police with timely and actionable information that will aid ongoing security operations.
