Five persons have died at Abubor Nnewichi, Nnewi, in Nnewi North Local Government Area of Anambra state after suspected food poison.
An eyewitness said the incident occurred on Monday evening,when the victims Okwuchukwu Onyimmadu family, from Mbosi in Ihiala Local Govrnment Area resident in Nnewichi ate the food that killed five members of the family at a go.
Names of the victims were given as Onyinye, mother; Miracle; Dominion; Amanda and Kosi, children. They all died.
Their father,Mr Okwuchukwu was said to be battling to survive at a hospital where he was rushed to, even though our source said the man did not eat the killer food but was in a terrible shock.
Our Correspondent gathered that two other siblings in the family, a boy and a girl, were in the village and not living with their parents in Nnewi who are consequently the survivors among the children.
The food that caused the death of the Onyimmadu’s is subject to investigation. Some alleged it was a take-away they brought in from outside, others said they ate cassava food they prepared in their home the morning before the ugly incident.
When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Tochukwu Ikenga said the report had not come to his office.
