Kwara State Police command has confirmed the killing of a Fulani man by suspected assassins in Lamba village, Asa Local Government Area of Kwara State on Wednesday.
Speaking with Tribune Online, the PPRO, Okasanmi Ajayi, said that the commissioner of police has already directed an investigation into the matter.
Tribune Online gathered that the deceased, said to be a Fulani leader, Alhaji Abdullahi Hardo Buruku, popularly known as Alhaji Malam, was killed by his assailants at about 12:00 midnight in his bedroom on Wednesday.
It would be recalled that suspected assassins had a few weeks ago, murdered a Magaji aspirant in the Ballah area of the same Asa Local Government Area of the state.
A resident of Lamba village, in the Ilorin emirate of the Kwara Central Senatorial District, who spoke to journalists on condition of anonymity, confirmed that suspected assassins stormed the town around 12 midnight on Wednesday, shooting sporadically into the air.
“They shot him on the spot. We heard gunshots all over,” he said.
Also, one of the sisters of the deceased, Aina’u Hardo Buruku, while confirming the incident, said that the gunmen met the victim in his bedroom and murdered him.
Until his death, the deceased was the chairman, Gan Allah Fulani Development Association of Nigeria, Kwara State branch.
He was the eldest son of the late Sarkin Fulani of Kwara, Alhaji Mu’azu Hardo Buruku.
