Suspected herders demand N50m for Ekiti farmers


Gunmen suspected to be herdsmen have kidnapped four farmers at Ikosun-Ekiti in Moba Local Government Area of Ekiti State.

A community source told our correspondent that the farmers Gbadamosi Sarafa, Yinka Adeniran and two others were kidnapped at the farm settlement between on Monday.

The source said that the two others are truck operators working in the farm.

The captors reportedly contacted their families yesterday demanding N50 million for their release.

Police spokesman Sunday Abutu confirmed the kidnap, saying the Command has deployed policemen in the surrounding bushes at Ikosun Ekiti  up to the Kwara border in order to fish out the perpetrators.

Abutu denied knowledge of the N50 million ransom.
