The President of Imo General Assembly (IGA) Nnewi branch, Chief Chinedu Igwe has advocated detection, dialague and deployment (DDD) to solve insecurity challenges in Nigeria in general and South East in particular.
Chief Igwe who is the Chairman, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Suzuki Don International Ltd, stated that situation on ground as it regards high insecurity has made it incumbent on duty bearers to detect and recognize the persons behind the spate of killings in the country at large and in South East especially.
“We must tell ourselves the truth, the persons perpetrating the heinous crimes in the society are not ghosts, they are from certain villages and communities, the onus rests on those in the corridors of power to deploy their detection machineries to identify them.” He noted.
The IGA strong man however said that the purpose of identifying the persons is not for any form of punishment but to dialogue with them which according to him is his second ‘D’.
He said as a matter of fact that many of the people who are agitating are aggrieved because of obvious failure on the part of duty bearers as well as perceived and real marginalization of certain parts of the country especially the South East.
The President of IGA said emphatically that it is by having sincere dialogue with the aggrieved persons that true peace can return to the country.
“It is wrong to beat up a child and ask him or her not to cry, such attitude can only lead to bottled up anger which can explode unexpectedly, some of the security issues confronting the nation today are products of accumulated anger over neglect and marginalization. Dialogue is the only mechanism with which they can be convinced to lay down their arms.” He stressed.
Chief Igwe’s third ‘D’ is deployment of the identified aggrieved individuals and groups for productive purposes.
“These angry persons can be engaged, the truth is that after a sincere discussion, they may then realize the need to mobilize their energies for nation building rather than embarking on killing spree of innocent people in the name of protesting one injustice or the other. It happened during President Goodluck Jonathan’s tenure, he identified the militants, dialogued with them and deployed them for nation building. If this is done, insecurity and violence would become history .” He explained.
Chief Igwe commended the h Anambra State governor, Prof Charles Soludo for his promise to grant amnesty to agitators even as he enjoined governors to adopt the vision of triple D so as to return peace to the nation.
