Attacks Make Us Feel Like There’s No Govt ― Northern Christian Elders’ Forum

The Christian Elders Forum of Northern States (NOSCEF), Kaduna State, has noted that the frequent attacks going on in the country, especially in the Northern region make Nigerians feel like that is no government and that there’s a government that has been overwhelmed by the criminals.

In a statement issued by the state chairman of the forum, Elder Garba Asandu on Wednesday and made available to the Nigerian Tribune condemned the incessant killings and destruction of properties going on in parts of the country.

“Current happenings in our great country, Nigeria has forced us to come out with words of sympathy, empathy, encouragement, advice, and caution as elders and leaders in our communities.

”The high rate of insecurity in our country and particularly Kaduna State is very condemnable by all right-thinking people in a civilized twenty-first century country like ours.”

“The rampant cases of community attacks, kidnapping, bombing, raping, among others with great impunity is making us feel there is no government or those in government do not know what to do or are just incapable of discharging their responsibilities to their fatherland.

To this end, the statement declared, ‘Whatever they claim to be doing is not good enough and it is not acceptable to our people since these bandits can bomb or attack our Airports, Railways, Trains, Barracks, Roads, Villages, Towns or Cities without much ado.”

While sympathizing with the government and people of Nigeria and Kaduna State, in particular, the statement noted that their greatest sympathy and empathy goes to the victims of these wicked attacks and all their loved ones.

The forum prayed to God Almighty to heal the injured and comfort the bereaved amongst them and prayed for the soon release of all those in captivity.

The statement also appreciated Governor Nasiru El-Rufai of Kaduna State for his boldness and courage to publicly apologize to victims of the detestable act and accept failure.

The statement also called on other political office holders to emulate El-Rufai and even go further to do the needful.

It also cautioned against the idea of bringing in mercenaries since Nigeria’s security men and women are capable of defeating the bandits given enough resources and political will.

It advised the federal government to mobilize its able and capable youths who are unemployed in their millions to crush the bandits and terrorists since the country is right now in a war, stressing that further delay can be dangerous.

“There can be demobilization or right/downsizing of our soldiers after winning this war,” the statement added.
