The granddaughter of Joackin and Onyinye Okonkwo was formally received into Joackin’s house and the extended Uzochukwu family’s kindred.
The process of introducing Joachin’s granddaughter to the family and some close friends were an elaborate well-choreographed occasion steeped in Nnewi tradition.
At a point in the ceremony, the granddaughter was taken to the grandfather by the young parents to Joachin for blessings.
Joachin received the baby girl with utmost joy and pride. As he admired the baby girl, he never stopped pouring blessings on her.
The process continued until he proclaimed that the baby came in the fullness of wealth and, therefore, named her, Obiageliaku. And everyone assented with loud acclamation.
At the end of the proclamation, different dishes with the finest choice of drinks continued to flow through the evening till very late at night.
