It was another horrible day for unsuspecting innocent Igbo traders plying their trade at the Dei Dei material market, Abuja.
Our source informed us that a commercial bike rider recklessly ran into a truck, and subsequently, the woman passenger she was conveying to the market was killed instantly.
The commercial riders, locally known as “okada,” threw the woman’s body into a gutter and tried to abscond.
Some traders caught up with him to wait for the police to come to the scene and incident the matter.
The traders went about their businesses after the incident. Unbeknownst to them, the okada operators had organized themselves and set the multi-billion naira market on fire.
The residents of the surrounding areas have been thrown into panic as cars were set ablaze.
While the market was on fire, no security officer or fire truck came to the aid of the traders.
It will be recalled that the market had suffered fire incidents in the past, and the authorities had pledged to build a fire station to forestall this level of colossal losses.
