Persons exiting PDP are strangers, former chairman insists

From Ifeoma Ejiofor

The former chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) in Anambra State, Prince Ken Emeakayi says the persons who are exiting the party in the middle of an election are strangers who do not really have stakes in the party.

Prince Emeakayi stated this during an interaction with journalists at Marble Arch Hotels Awka during the National and States Assembly PDP primary for Anambra North and South senatorial zones.

He said as a matter of fact that the exit of certain persons from the PDP in Anambra State is not a problem as being speculated noting that to the hardcore party faithful who have seen it all since 1999, the development is a welcomed one.

“If you are traveling abroad and your flight stop over at certain location before your destination, you are entitled to enjoy your stay at the stop over point, while you are in a hurry to get all you could, the residents of such places will not be in a hurry to enjoy the facilities because of the fact that they are fully aware that those facilities are theirs. So those who are leaving, tell me their contribution to the PDP in Anambra State.” He explained.

Prince Emeakayi stressed that the people who are claiming to decamping from PDP to other political parties were never in PDP when the party was winning elections in 1999, 2003 and 2007 insisting that the party couldn’t win again since the strange bed fellows swooped on the party.

The former PDP chairman said that the men and women of honor who helped the party to discover her winning ways are back to chat a new course for the party in Anambra State. He said “Original members are here and they have no where to go but the new entrants who I see as passengers are free to go because they have not really contributed positively to our party.”

“I want to assure you that the faithful members and stakeholders of our party are not losing sleep over the exit of the persons who have not allow PDP to fly in Anambra State because of their negative tendencies, what I can assure you is that the umbrella of PDP is still very big and strong without those who have decamped

PDP suffered from implosion and autolysis arising from interpersonal greed and struggle for power and sharing of state resources. The foundation for electoral malpractices, snatching of ballot boxes and wreck less award and writing of election results constituted the ways and means of winning elections in their winning period of 16 years interregnum. Incompetency, violence, and crasss enthronement of impunity and lack of rule of law, coarsion and and even kidnapping of sitting governor became the order of the day. This foundation they put in place apart from killing the party also infested the entire polty and political space and gladiators up to now.
Though the party lost power at the centre since 71/2 years, it has no learnt a learnt a lesson. Primaries just concluded by the party showed how corrupt politicians distributed their loot to the corrupt delegates. Just for the primary election delegates collected between $35, 000 and $40, 000 including a sitting governor believed to be using state fund to such politics.
Anyone is free to enter an association and leave it without prejudice or preconditions. It doesn’t necessarily mean the person is a stranger or a strange bed fellow. It is a choice he chooses to make.
