Washington is aware of reports that say another American went to fight in Ukraine and his whereabouts are unknown, State Department spokesperson Ned Price told reporters on Thursday.
He was commenting on whether Russia may have captured some US mercenaries in Ukraine.
“There are reports of one additional American whose whereabouts are unknown. I can’t speak to the specifics of that case. Unfortunately, we don’t know the full details of that case,” State Department spokesperson Ned Price said at a press briefing.
He said the person went missing in recent weeks.
Price made the statements following reports in The Daily Telegraph that two Americans were captured in Ukraine after they, as part of a group of 10 people, confronted Russian forces outside Kharkov.
