The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Chief Medical Director (CMD) of Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital (NAUTH) Nnewi, Prof Joseph Ugboaja, on Saturday marked his birthday.
Prof Ugboaja’s birthday coincided with his one year in office as the CMD of NAUTH restated the commitment of his administration to positively transform the hospital and take the name of the host community to Nigeria and Africa with five-star performance.
He expressed his commitment to making the health institution a medical tourist center by making it one of the best five health institutions in the country. He reiterated the pledge during a birthday party organized by the Committee of Friends headed by Chiedozie Otutodilinna Azubuike in his honour.
The birthday party was hosted by the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Innoson Vehicle Manufacturer(IVM) Chief Innocent Chukwuma in his residence on Saturday, August 13th, 2022.
Prof Ugboaja said with relish that his administration has hit the ground running as the movement to the permanent site of the institution has taken off in full gear.
He appreciated the staffers of NAUTH for their cooperation and support for his administration, even as he assured them that he would avail them of the best operational environment so that they could fully key into his dreams and aspirations for the health institution.
Prof Ugboaja said that the management is already looking into the issues of conversion and promotion of deserving staffs of the hospital noting that the issue would be addressed soon.
Earlier in his speech, the Chairman of the Medical Advisory Committee (CMAC) of NAUTH, Dr. Ugochukwu Ezejofor, commended the CMD for the developmental strides he has occasioned in just a year in office, noting that the hospital has never had it so good.
He pointed out that barely a year that the incumbent CMD took over the rein of governance of the hospital, his top-notch performance and achievements are unprecedented.
Similarly, the President General (PG) of Uruagu-Nnewi, Chief Innocent Okoli, in his comment, said that the new CMD of NAUTH has performed magic that has positively and radically transformed the landscape and service delivery of the hospital.
He urged Prof Ugboaja to keep the flag flying even as he pointed out that more work would continue to be the reward for hard work.
Ezeakukwu Emmanuel Nsoedo (PhD) expressed amazement at the speed of development in the permanent site.
Dr. Nsoedo said that “with Ugboaja as the CMD, there has been a radical transformation as multiple projects are going up simultaneously.”
“It has been a case of addressing all aspects of institutional needs while looking out for the staff’s welfare.”
The birthday party was attended by the management staff of NAUTH, Committee of Friends among whom are the former Anambra State Commissoner for Sports, Hon Ezeakukwu Emma Nsoedo, Chief Dozie Ikedife, Barr Chima Nnamdi, Sir Bobby Okwuosa, former Chairman of Nnewi North LGA, Hon Martin Okafor, Eugene Nwizugbe (Anyanwu), Cyprain Onyemamuo (Nwajiugo), Chairman of Nnewi Importers Association, Chief Austin Manuel Jideofor, Chief Afam Iloka and a host of other dignitaries.
