The devastating attack on Senator Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah of Sunday 11th, 2022 defied logical explanation on whether it was a premeditated, and intended for the distinguished Senator or not.
The Vision Newspapers does not by implication of her inquisitiveness suggest that the violent attack may appear less severe. The fact remains that lives of innocent people were lost to the ogre of violence that was alien to the way of life of the Igbo people.
Some sources who spoke on condition of anonymity indicated that there was already a criminal operation going on before the emergence of Senator Ubah and his convoy on the scene.
In effect, the gunmen were already engaged in a kidnapping operation of one man known as Onowu. Our sources claimed that as the criminals were pushing the victim into their vehicle, it was then that the Senator’s convoy appeared on the scene as well.
The criminals opened fire on the approaching convoy and caused the mayhem they did. The security men on the Senator’s convoy were taken unawares, hence, the tragedy of loss of lives.
The two aids of the Senator who got killed were Ogum Ikechukwu and Goodness Mathias.
It would appear that the criminals also killed the kidnapped victim, whom they had already put in handcuffs before they engaged the convoy.
Our effort to reach Senator Ubah or the spokesman for the Anambra state police command proved abortive.
