Minister of Works and Housing Babatunde Fashola has reaffirmed that the second Niger Bridge is completed but that its commissioning would be delayed due to flooding having stalled the completion of the Asaba and Onitsha access roads.
The minister’s disclosure came on the heel of the ministry’s acting Federal Controller of Works in Anambra State, Seyi Martins, earlier this month, that, although the bridge would be officially inaugurated by December 2022 when it would be opened for use, the second phase, which includes access roads from Asaba, Delta State and Onitsha, Anambra State, was yet to be completed.
