Nnewi North Stakeholders meet ahead of the 2023 Anambra State House of Assembly Election


The stakeholders of the All Progressives Grand Alliance APGA in Nnewi North local government area as well as other critical stakeholders of the town, including the traditional leaders and other town union leadership, on Sunday, 12th March, gathered at the council headquarters to discuss and plan on how to deliver Nnewi North for APGA in the coming State House of Assembly election slated for Saturday 18th of March 2023.

The Transition Committee Chairman of Nnewi North local government area, Engineer Chris Obiorah (KSJI), hosted the meeting.

In his opening remark, Engineer Obiorah noted that the outcome of the State Assembly election is at the heart of the development of Nnewi and Anambra at large. He harped on the need for Nnewi to be on the same page with the ruling party, APGA.

The Mayor noted that the legislative arm of government is a powerful arm of government, adding that it is in the interest of the people that the three arms of government are working in harmony with a strong synergy.

He noted that Governor Soludo is very particular about the development of Nnewi and tasked the stakeholders with a greater commitment to ensure APGA wins Nnewi North as that will help Governor to implement all his excellent vision for Nnewi.

Stakeholders at the meeting included Arch Ebuka Ileka, Sir Fab Obi, and Hon Ugo Uzodike, who all agreed that Nnewi North couldn’t be on the opposition. They assured of their unflinching support to ensure APGA victory come March 18th, 2023.

The President General of Nzuko Ora Nnewi, Dr. Maduka Atueyi, stated that Nzuko Ora Nnewi would support Comrade Peter Nwosu and APGA. He encouraged ndi Nnewi to troop out in their numbers to vote for APGA in the forthcoming election.

He noted that Governor Soludo is working hard to reposition Nnewi and Anambra State and called for Ndi Anambra to encourage him.

The Traditional ruler of Nnewi, Igwe Kenneth Orizu, was represented by Sir Patrick Ubajaka who is also the Leader of APGA in Nnewi North.

Sir Ubajaka, who spoke on dual capacity, emphasized that APGA as a party has maintained its ideology of Onye Aghana Nwanne Ya, having touched all the 179 communities in Anambra progressively. He added that such a party with the people’s interest must be supported to continue delivering good governance.

Hon Mrs. Vero Nweke, on her part, pointed out the need for Nnewi North to deliver APGA in the coming election adding that Nnewi is the origin of APGA and will remain so.

Other stakeholders who spoke in support of the project include Honourable Eloka Maduekwe, Obi George Onyekaba of Nnewichi, Obi Bennett Okafor of Umudim, Hon. Okafoagu Emmanuel, Hon. Okafor Martin, Hon. Melie Onyejepu, and the Secretary of the Council, Honourable John Emeka Okafor.

Transition Committee members, APGA Executive Members both at the local government and ward levels among others were also in attendance.
