From Ifeoma Ejiofor

The plan by the Anambra State governor, Prof Charles Soludo to demolish fourteen filling stations in Ekwulobia in Aguata local government area of the state has been greeted with mixed reactions.

The demolition unofficial source claimed is on the account of the proposed flyover to be constructed at the popular Ekwulobia roundabout.

A section of the community who spoke with journalists on grounds of anonymity said that the construction of flyover at the roundabout wouldn’t be possible without pulling down some of the filling stations.

They said that though it is unfortunate that certain persons would lose their investigations but they added that personal investments should not stand in the way of overall development of the community.

The respondents however appealed to Anambra State governor to pay compensation to the affected petroleum dealers.

Some other people however blamed the affected petroleum dealers for building their stations without considering the original master plan of the state.

Meanwhile, the chairman of Petroleum Dealers Association in Nnewi, Hon Soge Egbuna in a reaction to the development said that IPMAN is already discussing with the government over the matter.
