Chikaosolu Nwosu, daughter of Mr and Mrs Linus Commodore Nwosu of Odida, Nnewichi, had her traditional wedding at her father’s majestic home on September 2nd, 2023.
The groom is Barrister Somto Okonkwo, the son of Chief and Mrs. Agu Okonkwo of Umuezeagu, Uruagu Nnewi.
The traditional marriage was the first and second visits performed jointly for expediency. By Nnewi tradition, the whole marriage rites had been considered completed.
At this stage in Nnewi, very limited number of guests are invited. A full-blown invitation is reserved for the traditional wine carrying.
Both families pulled their heavy guns to the traditional marriage suggesting their pedigree within Nnewi socio-cultural hierarchy.
The Obi of Nnewichi, Obi George Onyekaba (Obidiugwu), with his full cabinet played direct role in dictating the sequences of the traditional marriage rites. On the side of Uruagu, the Obi of Uruagu, Obi Afam Obi (Ogidi), maintained a dignified presence with some members of his cabinet.
The traditional marriage was witnessed by several personalities such as Ogbuefi Melie Onyejepu, Innocent Okoli (Organizer) Professor Ezechukwu, Hon Martin Okafor, Hon Nchedo Oboh, Barrister Obinna Uba, Hon Mbazulike Iloka, and Ezeakukwu Emmanuel Nsoedo PhD, etc.
Chikaosolu resides in the United Kingdom and pursuing a second degree in nursing. Barrister Somto Okonkwo is a practicing lawyer.
