Excitement as Egbu-Umuenem commences work on its hall and event center

By Ezeakukwu Emmanuel Nsoedo

Following the fundraising event by the Egbu-Umuenem community on August 27th, 2023, the leadership of the community through its President, Architect Paul Ileka, began work as promised at the site.

Vision Newspapers was at the site to witness the clearing of the site. As the trucks offloaded the blocks, the workers evacuated them to the upper deck. The sharp sands and cements had been moved to the site as well.

When Vision Newspapers enquired from the President General, Architect Ileka, about the state of their readiness to complete the project. Architect Ileka said, “he is first of all grateful to God for his guidance and protection of our people, especially those that had responded to the call for duty by contributing handsomely towards the project.” He told Vision Newspapers that significant community members had made pledges towards the project. A lot of those that made the pledges have redeemed them.

Arch Ileka continued, “Many responsible community members had indicated that they will donate towards the project as soon as possible.”

“The most important thing is to break the yoke of stagnation associated with the hall project. We must do whatever is necessary to ensure the completion, or near completion of the project before I leave office in December 2023,” the President General said.

The President General said that he is eternally grateful to Distinguished Senator Ifeanyi Ubah for making the project his own by not only being at the occasion but bringing very important personalities who made the event more grand”.

The PG was full of praises for the constant support from Chief Engineer Dozie Mbanaefo, Chief Ifeanyi Okoye (Onwadiebube), Mr. Cletus Okwudiba (Osa), Mr Osita Onumonu, Chief Francis Onyeka (Abado), Chief Vin Onyeka, Chris Uzukpe Nsoedo, Mr Emenike Ndianefo and others to many to mention here..etc.

The PG recalled the indefatigable role Dr. OJ Mbonu (Ozuomee) played towards the launching and his physical participation during the fundraising.

It is no surprise to me that our community decided to raise, from five percent to ten percent, what will go to the Education Trust Fund regarding expected accruals from the hall.

While the PG is thanking those who contributed, he said he is begging those who had not redeemed their pledges to do so. He is calling on those who have yet to donate to do so without hesitation.

The PG extends hands of fellowship and gratitude to the Obi in Council for their continued support.
