The Umudualo Family kindred of Umuenem Otolo Nnewi celebrated a fantastic new yam (iriji) with the umunwadiana (nephews and nieces) at the kindred’s communal Obi (meeting house).
The chairman, Mr Alphonsus Anaebue (Boys), piloted the affairs. Chief Emmanuel Obiora used the kola nut to call upon God to bless all, especially the grandchildren of Umudualo who attended the event. He looked forward to better events both for themselves and the invited relatives.
Chief Obiora called on God to give a special blessing to Chief Dr. Cletus Ibeto for his continued benevolence on the kindred and for ensuring that the kindred did not lack for this year’s yam celebration.
Chief Cletus (Omekannaya) was very excited seeing the (umunwadiana, who turned out in great numbers for the event. Chief Ibeto insisted that the occasion turned well because everyone gave wilfully in service or material. “It is because of that that all were happier,” he admonished. “when you enjoy in this manner, God will bless the kindred more with people of means who will keep the occasion going smoothly in the future.”
After cutting the yam, one of the high points of the occasion was when Chief Cletus Ibeto gave money to all the umunwadiana, from those few weeks old to men and women advanced in age.
Some of the umunwadiana at the event were RT Hon Chukwudi Orizu, Ozo Ugbonyamba, Agu Igwe Orizu, Hon Mrs Nneka Obunike, Lady Patricia Elodimuo, Chika Nsoedo, and Ezeakukwu Emmanuel Nsoedo, etc.
Obi Dogonu, Chief Emmanuel Okeke graced the occasion, and Otolo Development Union President, Hon Adikwulu also graced the occasion. They were all served with tubers of yam and chicken.
The Umunwadiana received two tubers of yam with live Chicken each. Everybody who came to the occasion also received yams.
