Multiple accident claims 5 in Anambra

Five people have been sent to their early graves on Sunday in Anambra State, following an early morning multiple accident.

The accident happened at Oba in Idemili South LGA of the state.

Sources claimed that government revenue officials blocked a section of the dual cariage of the Onitsha-Owerri road and in the process caused a long queue of vehicles.

“It was while the government revenue officials were still trying to extort money from the parked vehicles that a trailer failed break and rammed into the stationary vehicles.

“I would have died if not for divine intervention, at the moment, we have counted five lifeless bodies and many other people are still trapped in the wreckage.

“After causing this fatal accident that has claimed many lives, they have all run away, this rascality in the name of collecting revenue for government on the road just have to stop,” the eyewitness who identified himself as Ikenna lamented.

Meanwhile, the Anambra State Sector Commander of Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) Adeoye Irelewuyi has confirmed the development. He however said that the details of the accident was still sketchy at the time of filing this report.

“Yes, there was an RTC at Oba along Onitsha -Owerri expressway earlier today. Details of the crash is still being gathered. Some youths in the town and others are allegedly protesting over the incident,” he said.
