The organizers of Nnewi Sports Club, Anambra State, have organized a week-long Tennis tournament to celebrate their Prime Minister, Chief Louis Izuchukwu Onwugbenu, Chairman of Louis Carter Group.
The tournament which started yesterday, 11th of August, 2024 at Nnewi Sports Club had in attendance: the celebrant Chief Louis Carter, the CEO Innoson Motors, Chief Innocent Ifediaso Chukwuma, members of Nnewi Sports Club, the MD Carter Group, Engr Ndubuisi Okoli and his wife,Sir I.G Nduka , Sir Arthur Ngwugbe among others.
Chief Onwugbenu, who officially opened the tournament, is a renowned philanthropist who has given so much to humanity. Through his foundation, he has put smiles on the faces of people by creating Initiatives that deliver knowledge, skills, resources, and infrastructure that have stimulated innovation, facilitated commerce, and improved living conditions.
Speaking with some journalists at the tournament, Engr Ndubuisi Okoli, the MD Carter Group, said that the tournament was to celebrate his Chairman’s pre-71 birthday anniversary.
He disclosed that for the past years, Chief Onwugbenu has been celebrating his birthday outside the country.
Engr Okoli said that this year’s own would be special because Sir Louis would be celebrating it at home with the church, members of Block Rosary, Nnewi Sports Club and his community.
He further disclosed that the tournament would end on 16th of August, 2024 with wonderful prizes attached.
Engr Okoli outlined that the first team would be given the sum of five hundred thousand Naira, while the second team would go home with the sum of four hundred thousand Naira, the third team would also be given three hundred thousand Naira plus other consolation prizes.
The captain of the Nnewi Sports Club, Obiora Okeke, who also spoke, said that the tournament was to celebrate their Prime Minister, who has contributed enormously to the growth of his community.
“Today is a wonderful day which we organized to celebrate our Prime Minister who built a mansion at the back of the club. “
“He sponsored everything we are doing today; that is why we have been here since morning to make this year’s birthday celebration a special one,” he said.
