Police invitation hazard of the job – NLC President Ajaero

The President of Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Joe Ajaero has described his invitation by the Nigeria Police Force as a hazard of the job.

Ajaero said this while addressing journalists at the NLC Headquarters, Abuja on Thursday shortly after honouring police invitation over allegations of criminal conspiracy, terrorism financing, treasonable felony, subversion and cybercrime.

Daily Sun reports that the NLC president visited the headquarters of the police’s Intelligence Response Team (IRT) in Abuja at 10:17 am and left at 11.15 am after writing his statement.

He declined to address the media at the police headquarters and promised to do so at the Labour House instead.

Speaking at the Labour House, the NLC President stated that the police invitation was a hazard of the job that was not unexpected.

“You can’t do this job we are doing without this type of hazard. It is expected. For those of you who called me, I told them that this is the hazard of the job,” he said.

Ajaero further said the labour union is more patriotic than any other institution in the country.

He added that the union’s patriotism right from the colonial and military era to civilian rule remained unshakeable.

“Labour union is one of the biggest pan-Nigerian organisations. Our patriotism from the days of colonial government to even the period of the military is unshakeable.

“We are more patriotic than any other institution that you can think of in this country and we are going to continue to be that.

“We have gone there and we are back,” he said.
