The Igwe of Nnewi, in Nnewi North Local Government Area of Anambra State, HRH Igwe KON Orizu 111 and his entire family, friends, and well-wishers have paid their last respects to HRH Lolo Catherine Nwazunafia Orizu,the beloved mother of Crown Prince,Dr Charles Obianaefo Orizu.
Lolo Orizu who was laid to rest on October 24 ,2024 attracted many personalities from far and near. Among the personalities that graced the occasion were; Senate President Senator Godswill Akpabio, Members of Igwe in Council,the Obis, the Speaker, Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Somto Udeze,the president of Nigeria Bar Association (NBA), Afam Osigwe( SAN), the CEO of Innoson Group, Chief Innocent Chukwuma, CEO of Chisco Transport LTD, Chief Chidi Anyaegbu, CEO of Dozzy Group, Chief Daniel Chukwudozie,Archbishop of Nnewi Diocese, Rt Revd Dr Godwin Okpala,and many others to mention.
Igwe Nnewi, speaking during a requiem mass,described the late Lolo Igwe as a wonderful woman who had made remarkable marks in her lifetime and prayed that God would grant her spirit eternal rest. He prayed that God would give the Royal family and entire Nnewi community the fortitude to bear the loss.
Speaking shortly after the burial prayer, the Crown Prince, Obianaefo said his mother lived a glorious and exemplary life. He revealed that his mother contributed immensely to the development of Nnewi community which earned her a lot of respects among her people.
Commiserating with the family over the loss of their Matriarch, sympathizers expressed their condolences to the Royal family and urged them to bear the loss with fortitude.
In various tributes, late Lolo Orizu was described as a committed and philanthropist who had helped a lot of women and children in Nnewi to get quality healthcare services and education.
Chief Daniel Chukwudozie, Dozzy Group, who spoke during the burial, called late Lolo Igwe a wonderful woman who he said contributed greatly to the growth of Nnewi community and prayed that God would give her spirit eternal rest.
He prayed that God would give the Royal family and entire Nnewi community the fortitude to bear the loss.
Highlights of the event included prayers and traditional rites in honour of late Lolo Igwe while homage continued for the rest of days.
