The leading aspirant for the vacant South Senatorial seat is not a man given to frivolous and loquacious nature. That was the position of an APGA National EXCO member.
“If you need to harness a progressive idea on how best to use the party, then you must have Pat Ubajaka on the table,” the National EXCO member of APGA. The member explained to the press that he must be seen to be neutral in choosing who flags the party’s flag for the election that is expected to be highly competitive between APGA and other parties.
The anonymous APGA National EXCO member was confronted to confirm some of the claims of Hon Ubajaka during an impromptu interview at a wedding reception in Nnewi.
Hon Sir Pat Ubajaka had sought to differentiate himself to the rest of the aspirants contesting for the vacant Senatorial seat to a group of journalists that confronted him with the question yesterday.
Without hesitation, Ubajaka said, “I am a visionary and consistent APGA faithful. What often sets my agenda apart from those of my political adversaries is that they often deal in esoteric bland catch phrases that are not tailored to the needs of the people of Anambra South Senatorial constituency
“Just the other day, I addressed you on the negative impact businesses from our constituency suffer due to extra legal actions occasioned by multiple checkpoints hampering smooth delivery of goods from the seaport to our markets.” He argued that the delays and extra monies paid to facilitate the movement of containers have direct negative impact to product pricing that sap the pockets of the consumers.
“I have said that it is most insensitive that manufacturers and industries such as Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing company, Ibeto Group, Tummy Tummy, etc, would be spending astronomical amount of money on energy to run these facilities, thereby making their products more expensive, while opportunities for expansion are stifled.” Lack of adequate power supply affects the ability of manufacturers to hire more people to work for them.
Sir Ubajaka argued that the kind of skills acquisition projects he will attract is not such to fill his resumé, but the kind that will see our unemployed youth be able to be self-employed.
He said that he is interested in finding solutions to these problems through effective legislation through a collaborative effort with his potential colleagues, if he became successful.
He reiterated that he was a pioneer member of APGA and have remained consistent to ensure the growth of the party in the state by supporting them materially and also, through purposeful leadership.
“I am not surprised that a member of the National EXCO who wished to remain anonymous confirmed as much to you about my activities,” Ubajaka concurred.
