In a bid to contribute their quota to the untiring efforts of the Anambra State Governor Prof. Chukwuma Soludo to enthrone adequate security in the State, a group of elites women from ojoto town the headquater town of idemili south L.G.A “Otu Odu Ojoto women comprising of women of substance from the town residing in Nigeria and diaspora has floated a multimillion naira electric project tagged “ Light up Ojoto” to boost the security of the town in order to rid the town of criminalities.
Kicking of the security project last Christmas season with a erection and lighting up of over five hundred electric polls equipped with satellite lights erected at strategic points of the town which was followed with a fund raising launch to raise money to purchase more additional poles to cover the entire town, the chairperson of the planning committee of the light up Ojoto project, Chief Mrs. Anthonia Ugokwe told journalists that they were motivated to embarked on the project based on their conviction that tendency of criminalities decreases in atmosphere of light hence their resolve to embarked on the project to help build the security architecture of the town to make the job of security operatives less cumbersome.
Earlier in a welcome address read by Chief Mrs. Ngozi Anyabolu President Otu Odu Ojoto, while giving a vivid history of the group and what it stand in the cultural history of the town said that the group made up of influential women in the town has been identifying with anything that promotes peace, love and development etc. She solicited for support from well meaning citizens of the town to realize their dream on the project.
Speaking also, HRM Igwe Gerald Obunadike Mbamalu the traditional ruler of Ojoto Commended the women for coming together in unity to identify with the town development stressing that the project will go a long way to ensure adequate security in the town.
On her part Chief Mrs. Amaka Obi Mayor Idemili South LGA who also represented the State Governor Prof. Chukwuma Soludo applauded the women for their interest to invest in security to complement the good work of the State Governor on security management in the State adding that the Governor has been doing well both in security and provision of developmental dividends.
In their own contribution while speaking to journalists Sir. Frank and Iyom Ilonze, Chief Mrs. Ugokwe Udemba President Ojoto Union North America, all praised the women for the initiatives to develop their community especially the security architecture.
While noting that they have challenged all well meaning citizens of the town to always desires for what they will do to contribute to the development of their town, they appealed to all citizens of the town to come together and participate to the development of the community even as Sir Frank Ilonze specifically appealed to the youths of the town to shun idleness as well as avoid anything that will put them into trouble and identify themselves with enterprenual ventures adding that they the elders are ready to support them.
