
The sleepy community of Oko in Orumba North LGA of Anambra was on Saturday thrown into panic and confusion as gunmen killed an unidentified young man.

Sources claimed that the incident happened close to Federal Polytechnic Oko adjacent to Glamour Plaza.
The assassinated victim was said to have been shot three times by the gunmen right inside his car by the gunmen who emerged from nowhere to carry out their dastard act.

The young brother of the shot owner of Legit Wine and Dine in company of his girlfriend later took his dead brother to the police station in the community.
In another development, gunmen had earlier on Thursday attacked vigilante operatives in Umunze Community, Orumba South LGA of the state.
One operative was also said to be killed by the rampaging gunmen in the deadly attack.
Sources claimed that the security operatives in an attempt to resist the gunmen during the gun duel recorded a fatal injury on one of them while the security office also got burnt.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for Anambra command, Tochukwu Ikenga (SP) while reacting to the Oko incident said it was a cult related killing.
The PPRO said that following the swift response of the police operatives led by the DPO, one suspect was arrested and is currently undergoing interrogation.
“Meanwhile the body of the victim has been recovered and deposited in the morgue. The operatives also recover the victim’s vehicle at the scene. Further development shall be communicated, please, we have one suspect in,” he said
The Anambra State Commissioner of Police, Ikioye Orutugu (CP) has condemned the attack on Umunze vigilante office, even as he called for collaborative efforts to tackle the the gunmen.
