The Anambra State Commissioner of Police, Ikioye Orutugu(CP) has begun an extensive tour of police formations across the state.

The tour which prioritize both near and remote locations according to the Police Public Relations Officer(PPRO) for the command, Tochukwu Ikenga(SP) is a strategic move aims to strengthen community policing and enhance security measures within the state.
“On the 18th of June 2025, the CP made a surprise stopover at the Rapid Response Unit on his way to visit the Police Mobile Force 54 Squadron, and Area Command both at Onitsha. The tour aims to assess the operational effectiveness of the units, identify challenges, and implement effective solutions.

“The CP emphasized the importance of maintaining high standards of integrity and professionalism, especially with regards to adhering to the Police Operational Protocol in their line of duty. He frowned and lamented at the unfortunate incident that recorded the death of a Police Inspector at Awka a few days ago.
“It would be recalled that the son of the late Inspector, unaware of the state of the AK47 rifle assigned to his father, pulled the trigger which regretfully led to the death of the officer, while his second son who was wounded is currently receiving treatment in the hospital.
“To further promote the culture of accountability and service excellence the CP admonished the officers to shun corruption, extortion, indiscipline and neglect of family care which can impact negatively on their performance and overall job satisfaction,” Ikenga said.
He said that the entourage of the Commissioner of Police include the Assistant Commissioners of Police in charge of Administration and Criminal Investigations respectively and other senior officers.
