The people of Nnewi in Nnewi North LGA of Anambra State on Saturday defied a heavy downpour to give a rousing reception to the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Sir Azuka Okwuosa in the August 16th senatorial bye-election.
The DCC field venue for the campaign started receiving the APC faithful in the industrial town as early as 10.00am.
Not even what proved to be a rainy day could prevent the APC members and supporters of Sir Okwuosa from holding on all through proceedings for the day.
In his opening remarks, the APC State Chairman, Chief Basil Ejidike said that the former occupant of the seat, Sen Ifeanyi Ubah was of the APC, adding that APC will keep the sit.
He said as a matter of fact that Sir Azuka who is from the old Nnewi will succeed belated Sen Ubah from Nnewi.
The APC chairman noted that the candidate of the party in the August 16th senatorial bye-election stands a better chance to emerge victorious.
In his own speech, the Zonal Organizing Secretary of APC, Chief Dozie Ikedife commended the teeming party faithful for their commitment to a successful outing on August 16.
He however appealed to them not to only vote for Sir Azuka Okwuosa on the D day but to also vote for the APC governorship candidate, Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu on November 8th.
The APC standard bearer, Sir Azuka Okwuosa who was honoured with a twenty one gun salute appreciated the people of the industrial town of Nnewi for trooping out in their good numbers to be part of the rally.
He pointed out that he and his campaign train have visited five local government areas but added that the reception in Nnewi is one of it’s kind.
The APC senatorial candidate opined that the only way to immortalize Sen Ifeanyi Ubah, is to vote massively for APC on August 16th.
He assured the party faithful that he would continue in the good stead of Sen Ubah who was of the APC.
The APC governorship candidate in the November 8, Anambra State governorship election, Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu (Ikukuoma) while speaking at the occasion commended the party faithful for trooping out in their good numbers inspite of showers of rain.
He said that their steadfastness is a manifestation of their commitment to seeing APC emerging victorious on August 16th.
“LP is labouring in vain, APGA will be lost in the Senate, because of obvious reasons, APC has the largest number of senators which could be leverage on to attract democratic dividends to the good people of Anambra South,” he said.
He said that it was really unfortunate that the incumbent governor after getting huge federal allocations from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has refused to do anything in the industrial town of Nnewi.
Ikukuoma assured Ndi-Nnewi of a better deal with Sir Azuka Okwuosa in the Senate and he himself as the Executive Governor of Anambra State.
He said that the Wind of Glory blowing across Anambra State is not complete without showers of rain.
The occasion was used to formerly receive many people who decamped from APGA into the APC family.
Meanwhile, the campaign train of Sir Azuka Okwuosa was in Ozubulu, Ekwusigo LGA on Sunday in continuation of his interaction with Ndi-Anambra South.
