Uche Ekwunife Disowns Malicious Publication, Apologises to Soludo, Wife

The Anambra State Deputy Governorship Candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Uche Ekwunife, has tendered an apology to Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo and his wife, Nonye, over a publication linking the First Lady to Chief Chris Uba.

In a statement signed by her Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Tony Ezike, and made available to our correspondent, the Ekwunife Campaign Organization disowned the article, describing it as “false, malicious, and not connected” to her camp.

“The attention of Sen. Uche Ekwunife has been drawn to an article falsely attributed to her camp, alleging that Mrs. Nonye Soludo, wife of the Anambra State Governor, had children for Chief Chris Uba. Sen. Ekwunife categorically states that although she has been maligned, defamed, and disparaged by the Governor’s media team, the said publication did not emanate from her or her camp,” the statement read.

While distancing herself from the offensive publication, Ekwunife expressed regret over the recent political altercations and apologized to the Governor, his wife, and members of the public who might have been offended.

“She further wishes to apologize to the Governor, his wife, and the general public who may have been affected by the altercations of the past few days,” the statement added.

Ekwunife also urged her supporters to remain focused on the campaign and shun any form of media attack on the state’s First Family or other political stakeholders.

The controversy had sparked tension in the build-up to the November governorship election, with observers warning that campaign discourse must not degenerate into gutter politics.
