The Federal Government has condemned the abduction of female students from Government Girls Secondary School, Maga, in Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State, and has vowed immediate action to secure their release.
In a statement on Monday, the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, said the government shares in the pain of affected families and remains committed to ensuring the safe return of the students.
President Bola Tinubu, he noted, has reiterated that the protection of all Nigerians, especially schoolchildren, is a core duty of the state.
The attack, which also resulted in the killing of school officials, was described as unacceptable and reprehensible.
Idris disclosed that security and intelligence agencies have been given direct orders to locate and rescue the abducted girls while ensuring that the perpetrators are arrested and prosecuted.
The Minister added that the government will not relent until the students are safely reunited with their families.
He further stated that the Federal Government is intensifying efforts to strengthen internal security through enhanced military, police, and intelligence coordination, and is also deepening regional partnerships with ECOWAS, the African Union, and the Multinational Joint Task Force to curb terrorism and cross-border criminal activities.
The government urged citizens to remain calm and assured that safeguarding lives remains a top national priority.
