JUST-IN: Troops Ambushed While On Kebbi Schoolgirls Rescue Mission

Scores of troops sustained injuries after terrorists ambushed them while on a rescue mission for abducted students of Government Girls Secondary School, Maga, in Kebbi State.

The attack came just 24 hours after the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, directed troops of Operation Fasan Yamma to go “all out” against the bandits.

Shaibu emphasised the urgency of the mission, ordering, “You must continue day and night fighting. We must find these children.”

The COAS also instructed commanders to rely on intelligence for precision operations, warning, “Once you receive information on something like this, act professionally and decisively. This is not just about our image; it is about doing our job properly.”
Troops were deployed for a 24-hour operation to ensure the safe rescue of the abducted students.

During the mission, terrorists ambushed the soldiers, leaving several injured. Video footage obtained by reporters showed the soldiers lying wounded, awaiting medical attention.

One injured soldier was heard saying in Hausa, “Musa has a bullet lodged in his leg. His condition is very bad.”

The operational vehicle used by the troops was also riddled with bullet holes in the attack.
Security forces have continued efforts to rescue the schoolgirls while providing aid to the injured soldiers.
