The Anambra State Commissioner of Police, Ikioye Orutugu(CP) yesterday applauded the ongoing Inspector General of Police (IGP) capacity building workshop.
CP Ikioye at the occasion reaffirmed the commitment of the Anambra State Police Command to enhanced security service delivery.
The Workshop, themed: “Strategic Police Conduct Through Emotional Intelligence, Human Relations, Communication Skills, and Attitudinal Change,” is aimed at strengthening professionalism, operational effectiveness, and service-oriented policing within the Nigeria Police Force.
The Commissioner appreciated the Inspector-General of Police and the Management of the Nigeria Police Force, as well as the Nigeria Police Trust Fund (NPTF) for sponsoring the workshop.
He also commended the facilitators and organizers for the quality and depth of lectures delivered, describing the programme as timely and impactful in addressing contemporary security challenges.
The CP also noted that capacity-building initiatives such as this are critical to equipping officers with modern policing skills, intelligence-led strategies, emotional intelligence, and improved community engagement approaches, which are essential for effective policing in today’s security environment.
He urged participants to translate the knowledge gained into practical field operations, stressing that improved capacity must reflect in proactive policing, respect for human rights, professionalism, and increased public confidence in the Police.
The Commissioner further pledged that the Anambra State Command would continue to support all initiatives aimed at professional development, assuring residents of the Command’s resolve to deliver enhanced, people-oriented, and effective security services across the State.
The programme which commenced on Monday, 19th January, 2026 at Trig-Point Hotel Awka, drew participants from various departments and formations within the Anambra State Police Command.
