Access to justice for women and girl child all over the world has been described as a cornerstone and a concrete driver for advancing democracy and peace in the society.
The Acting Director, National Orientation Agency (NOA), Anambra State Directorate, Barr. Lady Ifeoma Chijioke, made this assertion, in her office at Awka, describing this year’s theme: Give To Gain” as very apt and a call for action by all and sundry.
Barr. Chijioke, maintained that the theme focuses on fostering a mindset of generosity, collaboration and shared progress to accelerate women’s advancement in the global community.
While describing the International Women’s Day as a global event to celebrate the economic, social, cultural, and political achievements of women, the NOA Acting Director, also stated that the occasion calls for action to accelerate gender equality.
She noted that this year’s event will provide a key platform for groups to raise funds or promote visibility for the women’s charity programmes.
The Acting Director of NOA emphasized that this year’s event is being celebrated at a time of growing global backlash against human rights, democratic labour rights, increased discrimination, racism, and violence against women and girl child in the society.
She however noted that Anambra State, has produced many women of great substance who had in their own times contributed to the holistic development of their State in particular and Nigeria in general.
