JUST IN: CAF declares Morocco winner of AFCON 2025

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has declared Morocco winner of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

The continental football umpire disclosed this in a statement issued on Tuesday night.

Senegal defeated hosts Morocco 1-0 in a highly-controversial final match on Sunday, January 18, 2026.

CAF said the decision to award the final game to Morocco was taken by its Appeal Board in application of Article 84 of the Regulations of the CAF Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

It said Senegal were declared to have forfeited the game with the result of the match being recorded as 3–0 in favour of Morocco.

The Appeal Board’s decision overturned an earlier disciplinary ruling affirming Senegal’s victory, following an appeal by the Fédération Royale Marocaine de Football.
