The federal government has officially declared Thursday, March 19, and Friday, March 20, 2026, as public holidays to mark the celebration of Eid-ul-Fitr, which signifies the conclusion of the holy month of Ramadan.
Minister of interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, made the announcement on behalf of the federal government in a statement issued by Dr. Magdalene Ajani, Permanent Secretary in the ministry, on Tuesday.
Extending warm greetings to the Muslim faithful, the minister congratulated them on successfully completing the month of fasting and spiritual reflection. He urged Muslims to continue practicing the virtues emphasised during Ramadan, including love, generosity, peace, tolerance, and sacrifice.
