An Ihiala High Court in Ihiala Judicial Division, sitting at Nnewi Council Area of Anambra State has resumed hearing on missing Labour Party (LP) candidate in the 2021 Governorship election, Chief Obiora Agbasimalo.
The abducted govervorship candidate is yet to regain freedom after certain ransoms were said to have been paid to the abductors by the family.
Principal Witness (PW4/5) High Chief Godwin Agbasimalo(Oga Ndi Oga) was during the last court sitting cross examined before Justice C.N.Mbonu-Nwenyi.
Oga Ndi Oga while in the witness box was asked questions on the circumstances surrounding the disappearance of his cousin and LP guber candidate at Azia in Ihiala Local Government Area in a Suit No. HH/15C/22.
Two persons, Chukwudi Jude Odimegwu and Maxwell Nwokolo (1st and 2nd defendants) respectively alongside others at large are standing trial before the court for alleged conspiracy and kidnap of Chief Obiora Agbasimalo.
This was as preferred in a charge by the Department of State Services(DSS) at an Awka Magistrate Court in the charge No. MAW/ 506/2022 in a charge prepared by N.J. Nwankwo Esq,
The DPP alleged that while armed with guns and other offensive weapons, the accused persons kidnapped Chief Obiora Agbasimalo against his will and thereafter demand a ransom of one million Naira, five million Naira and another one million Naira, totalling seven million Naira from his family.
The family of the abducted govervorship candidate had earlier claimed that the money was paid for his release, yet after receiving the ransom, the abductors failed to release him till date.
Barr. Ikenna Obidiegwu, Counsel to the 1st defendant Chukwudi Jude Odimegwu cross examined the Principal Witness, High Chief Godwin Agbasimalo (Oga ndi Oga) during the hearing.
Counsel of the second defendant Maxwell Nwokolo also cross examined Oga Ndi Oga.
After an exhaustive questioning by the two legal practitioners, the matter was adjourned to October 25th for continuation of hearing.
