The President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Joe Ajaero is asking for a new date for his interrogation by the police after missing the scheduled one on Thursday.
Tribune Online reports that both Ajaero and NLC Secretary Emmanuel Ugboaja were absent from the police headquarters in Abuja, according to the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID).
Speaking on the development, a source with knowledge of the issue revealed that Ajearo and Ugboaja had notified the police of their unavailability.
“They did not appear. They notified investigators in writing, requesting to reschedule the session to September 25,” the source shared.
Femi Falana, who is Ajaero’s lawyer, had stated on Wednesday that the labour leaders might request a postponement of the interrogation, something he confirmed the next day.
“We asked for a different date as Comrade Joe Ajaero had an engagement outside Abuja today,” he said on Thursday.
Ajaero is being probed for alleged terrorism financing, cybercrime, subversion, criminal conspiracy, and treasonable felony.
