The Anambra State Beach Soccer Association held a world press conference to introduce Anambra Beach Soccer Warriors, and also to inform the state of the upcoming Nigeria National Beach Soccer league.
The Association also used the opportunity to introduce the Anambra State Beach Soccer Warriors as the flagship team that will represent the state at the National League tournament. The Secretary General of ASBSA, Dr E Emmanuel Nsoedo informed the media that it would be a schock for the public to suddenly find out that a powerful team is out there representing them. Dr Nsoedo informed the group of how Anambra State had arrived at the lofty position without the support of the government which is critical in the formation of a competitive team because it is cost intensive.
“Let us note today that Anambra State Beach Soccer Association has a sole financier, Prof Victor Madubuko.” The same goes for the Anambra Warriors. “Prof Madubuko is also responsible for the equipment and the upkeep of the players and the coaching staff. Prof Madubuko did not spare any expense to ensure that Anambra would compete at the highest level.”
“Prof Madubuko financed the construction of an international standard pitch at Nnewi High School, dedicated to Beach Soccer. The pace of development of Beach Soccer in Anambra State has persuaded the National body of Beach Soccer to grant Anambra State the opportunity to host the second leg of the tournament. The state has accepted to put on a spectacular reception for the players and officials in May 2024 for the second leg of the tournament. The state association solicited maximum support from the media to promote the league tournament, as well as the upcoming hosting of the second leg of the league competition. Meanwhile, the players put on their full regalia and undertook a training session for the media to showcase their readiness.
The tournament’s first leg kicks off in Kebbi within the next three days.
