Anambra 2025: Gov Soludo gets APGA return ticket

The Anambra State governor, Prof Charles Soludo on Saturday got reelection ticket from the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in a special congress for governorship election.

The special congress took place at Dr Alex Ekwueme Park, Awka.

During the congress, three thousand, two hundred and sixty delegates were given the ballot paper, three thousand, one hundred and seventy five were accredited, three thousand one hundred and seventy two actually voted.

The congress recorded four invalid votes, while three thousand, one hundred and sixty eight said yes in the voice vote and none said no.

While announcing Gov Soludo as the winner of the congress, Chief Uche Wewo said that the voice vote is in line with the Article 11, 13, and 14 of electoral guideline of the party.

He said that the lone governorship aspirant for APGA, Gov Charles Soludo swept majority of the votes in the twenty one LGAs and three hundred and twenty six wards of the state.

Gov Solud in his victory speech described APGA as a party delivering Democratic dividends to Ndi-Anambra.

He thanked God for his mercies on.the successful conduct of the congress noting that he was really humbled by the unprecedented display of solidarity by the party

While highlighting his achievements in the past three years, he assured the people of the state that he would do more in his second term in office.

“We have occasioned revolution in all sectors in the last three years, we will surely continue continue at higher level even as he declared that the first phase of his government is merely introductory as bigger things are in the offing..

“Anambra has not seen anything, thank all the stakeholders and partners in the development of Anambra. I appreciated the churches, mosques where good messages are preached to our people.

“The level of unprecedented support from all angles is exciting, market women, all the political parties and support groups in different shades and colour have been urging us on, never in the history of Anambra has there been such consensus on who becomes a governor,” he said.

Gov Soludo promised not to take the support of Ndi-Anambra and residents alike for granted as he would go to all the nooks and crannies of the state delivering democratic dividends to the people.

He invited all qualified persons to avail themselves of the opportunity to apply for political positions in the next dispensation as porter would be opened to take desiring, qualified and suitable applicants.

Gov Soludo in a dramatic move renominated Onyekachi Ibezim as his deputy.

Dr Phil Elizabeth, led the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) team at the event.
