Leaders in the seventy key markets in Anambra State have pledged their unalloyed support for the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu in the November 8 guber polls.
The APC governorship candidate, Ikukuoma played host to the market leaders who are more than a thousand at Radison Hotels, Awka, on Saturday.
Mrs Cynthia Oragwu, a woman leader in a speech expressed dissatisfaction with the way and manner the incumbent governor has been breathing down the neck of traders.
She said as matter of fact that the legacy Gov Charles Soludo is leaving behind at the end of tenure in March 17th , 2026 is intimidation and harassment of market men and women.
Mrs Oragwu pointed out that market elections which used to run freely have become do or die as the incumbent is always insisting on fostering his kiths and kin on the traders as their leaders.
The Coordinator of the six zones that constitute Anambra markets, Hon Theo Obiora said that the market men and women have decided to vote for Ikukuoma on November 8th, 2025.
He pointed out that the zones comprising Onitsha, Nnewi, Aguata, Idemili, Ogbaru, and Awka have always had it rough with Gov Soludo over his overbearing influence in the markets across the State.
Hon Obiora said that the traders suffered so much under the administration of the day which unleash unfavorable tax regime on them as well as the criminal ‘Aka-Odo’.
The Coordinator of the six zones of the markets in Anambra assured Ikukuoma that all the traders across the State are solidly behind him in his aspiration to take over the reign of governance come November 8.
In his welcome address, Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu, thanked the market leaders across the State for creating time to visit him.
He said that the excitement he saw on faces of his visitors is contagious and a determination of their preparedness to be part of the change coming to Anambra in the next governorship election.
Ikukuoma appealed to the market leaders to go to work in their local government areas and wards and spread the goodnews of Wind of Glory to the people in their areas of influence.
The APC governorship candidate assured them his government will carry them along in the day to day administration of the State under his watch.
“I can see political appointees amongst you, there are contractors here with you who will do legitimate business with the government.
“We have senatorial election next Saturday, make yourselves available. We are going to win the bye-election and then we will tell our stories of how we overcame. That will silent then silent our noisome opponent,” he stressed.
