A wave of renewed political momentum has swept through Nnewi following the official confirmation of Dr. George Moghalu as the Labour Party’s candidate for the 2025 Anambra Governorship Election.

This development, announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has sparked enthusiastic reactions across the state, with a strong call to action led by Mr. Onyebuchi Okoye, President of the Nnewi Youth Professionals.
Mr Okoye during a press briefing, declared the moment “a turning point in the political history of Anambra,” urging all well-meaning Ndi Nnewi to rally behind one of their own.

“This is a golden opportunity that we cannot afford to miss. INEC has spoken. The era of speculation is over, Dr George Moghalu is the candidate, and our journey to victory begins now,” he said.
Okoye emphasized the significance of the confirmation, describing it as a “clarion call” to unify around a candidate who embodies competence, character, and vision.
He described Dr. Moghalu as “a man of the people, a disciplined administrator, and a seasoned public servant who understands the real issues facing Anambra. He is not just a politician. He is a principled leader, someone with deep roots in our communities, and the courage to make difficult decisions. His solutions are not theoretical, they are practical and achievable.
“There is no more division in the Labour Party. We are one family with one goal, to deliver good governance to Ndi Anambra. It’s time to mobilize from Nnewi to Awka, from Ogbaru to Orumba, and from Onitsha to Ihiala. The movement has started,” he asserted.
Okoye while calling for a deep rooted grassroot mobilization, urged all stakeholders, including market women, youth groups, professionals and traditional leaders to take the message of change to every ward, every village, and every home.
“Let us rise with one voice. Let us own this moment. Let us lead this movement. Dr. George Moghalu represents a new dawn. Our time is now, and history will remember those who stood up when it mattered most,” he said.
George Moghalu, a well-respected figure with decades of public service and leadership experience, is widely known for his integrity, strategic thinking, and people-centered governance philosophy.
As political drums begin to beat louder in Anambra, one thing is becoming increasingly clear: the journey toward 2025 has begun and for many in Nnewi, the destination is Government House, Awka.
