By Ifeoma Ejiofor

A civil society, Civil Rights Concern(CRC) has expressed her resolve to assess the performance of Anambra State new governor, Prof Charles Soludo quarterly.

The Executive Director(ED) of CRC, Okey Onyeka stated this on Friday during an interactive session with journalists in Awka.

Onyeka pointed out that his group is passionately committed to ensure that social services performance are at the optimal level for the benefit of the downtrodden.

He noted that the Anambra State new governor’s popularity was high before his inauguration which according to him may not be unconnected with his body language and promises of doing things differently.

Onyeka said “Anambra State stakesholders made up of town unions, community women leaders, civil societies, livelihood associations made up of farmers, artisans, traders, education and health workers responded to an online question to rate the popularity of Prof Soludo as a governor elect, based on his initial actions and declarations preparatory to his assumption of office.

“The rating was done using an online tool. A total of 69 persons responded; 39.13 percent rated him very excellent, 37.68 percent rated him very good, 23.19 percent him good. There were no votes for bad and very bad decisions by the stakesholders.” Okey revealed.

The ED, CRC said that the result of the online rating could be related to the governorship election result in which Prof Soludo won 19 of the 21 council areas.

“We congratulate him and pray for him to keep the flag flying, we shall continue to provide the support for him to hear and know the cries of the ants as he makes progress in his government so that he would always take balanced decisions to improve the life of the poor, marginalized and vulnerable and the rich in the state.” He pointed out.

The Executive Director, CRC however noted that all the duty bearers at different levels should be prepared to perform optimally as there are levels of responsibility in administration.
