Anambra Guber: Mrs Soludo, Sen Ekwunife fight dirty as elders call for restraint

From Ifeoma Ejiofor

Ahead the November 8, Anambra State governorship election, Mrs Nonye Soludo, the wife of Anambra State Governor and Sen Uche Ekwunife, the Deputy Governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have embarked on bitter war of words.

Problem allegedly started when the incumbent governor, Prof Charles Soludo made uncomplimentary remarks against the APC standard bearer, Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu and his running mate, Sen Iyom Uche Ekwunife.

Prince Ukachukwu however did not give any response to the inflammatory statements made by Gov Soludo against him.

But the former Senator representing Anambra Central zone, Sen Ekwunife will not take any of such as she retaliated with allegations of infidelity against the Anambra State first lady.

In a seven paragraph response to Sen Ekwunife’s allegations, Mrs Nonye Soludo accused the APC Deputy Governorship candidate of crossing the red line.

She expressed her willingness to go oath of fidelity and paternity test for all her children, noting that the former Senator should take the oath and partenity test for her children also in a reputable hospital abroad on her bill.

The APC Deputy Governorship candidate, Sen Iyom Uche Ekwunife in a sharp reaction to Anambra First Lady’s call for oath of fidelity and paternity test said that Mrs Soludo is only owing her husband explanations and not to her.

In a counter-statement made available to journalists on Saturday, Ekwunife dismissed the explanations as misplaced and unnecessary.

“Without dignifying her with a response or condescending to their low mental level, I make bold to say that Mrs. Nonye Soludo doesn’t owe me all those explanations.

“She owes her husband those explanations and other actions that could exonerate her and prove her innocence over paternity of her children. Not me!” she declared.

Meanwhile, a number of elders in the state who commented on the frosty relationship between Mrs Soludo and Iyom Ekwunife appealed to the two prominent women to sheath their swords.

They called on the duo to remember that life will not come to an end after November 8, Anambra State governorship election.
