Despite the internal wrangling rocking the Labour Party (LP), its 2023 presidential candidate, Mr Peter Obi, has reaffirmed his commitment to the party, thrown his weight behind George Moghalu, the LP governorship candidate in Anambra State.
Obi joined Moghalu and party faithful at a town hall meeting and campaign rally in Nimo, Anambra Central Senatorial Zone, where he underscored the importance of human development as the foundation of good governance.
Highlighting Moghalu’s manifesto, Obi noted that the candidate’s agenda prioritises strengthening security, advancing education, improving healthcare, and lifting citizens out of poverty at a time when the safety of lives and the future of children’s education remain pressing concerns.

“Beyond competence, George Moghalu has consistently demonstrated capacity, compassion, and character, the essential values of true leadership,” Obi said.
He expressed optimism that Anambra would record meaningful progress under Moghalu’s stewardship.

The former Anambra governor’s open endorsement comes at a delicate time for the Labour Party, which has been battling leadership disputes and factional interests.
Obi’s intervention is expected to calm frayed nerves, consolidate support around Moghalu, and reassure the “Obidient” movement of the party’s focus on credible leadership and people-oriented governance.
“As we rally behind Moghalu, we are confident that Anambra will not only make progress but also achieve tangible improvements in human development, securing a brighter and more dignified future for our people,” Obi added.
