Anti-party activities: PDP sets to discipline offenders

Tough times await the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ranks and file who embarked on anti-party activities during the November 6 Anambra State governorship election.

This was the general consensus of the one hundred and thirty eight leaders of the party in Anambra State who met onTuesday at Marble Arch Hotels, Awka to fashion out a way forward for the party after the defeat at the guber polls.

Chief Ndubuishi Nwobu, the state chairman of PDP in his opening remarks pointed out that the PDP had the best material in the November 6 governorship election but was sabotaged by individuals who had earlier promised to swim and sank with the party.

He commended the PDP governorship candidate, Mr Valentine Ozigbo for fighting like a man during the party primary and the election proper.

The PDP Chairman also extolled the leadership qualities of the senator representing Anambra Central in the upper chamber of the National Assembly, Iyom Uche Ekwunife for staying true to the party.

He noted that if all the other governorship aspirants, elected officials and party officials who dumped the party had stayed, the results of the governorship election might be different.

Chief Nwobu said emphatically that all the people who left PDP on the eve of governorship election will have repercussions for their actions, noting that the repercussions is not restricted to those who are occupying elective positions but also party officials who engaged in anti-party activities during the election.

He stressed the need for all and sundry toward rebuilding PDP.

Sen Ben Ndi-Obi, a member of PDP Board of Trustees in his speech noted that the major challenge confronting the party in Anambra State is division and rancor among the faithful.

He recalled his efforts towards the sanitation of the party in the state, he said if there are people causing trouble, the party should be strong enough to get them sanctioned.

“I will champion the sanction of persons sabotaging the party, we have the men who are capable us to the promised land but for anti party activities by some elements.” He declared.

The governorship candidate, Valentine Ozigbo at the occasion thanked the party faithful for the different roles both positive and negative they played during the election.

He said time has come for PDP to restrategise on how to move forward noting that the party must be cleaned up for the better.

Dr Obi Okechukwu, the newly elected National Auditor of PDP, Chief Mrs Chinelo Morfus were unveiled during the meeting.

Okechukwu in a remark said that the National Chairman of the party, Prof. Iyorcha Ayu is passionate about the state.

He expressed optimism that the party would bounce back for good in Anambra State.
