Just a few days after His Royal Emminence, Archbishop (Prof.) Emmadavid Okafoagu made a passionate plea to the abductors of the retired Archbishop of Anglican Diocese of Nnewi, Archbishop G.I.N Okpala, the Cleric has been released.
Okafoagu who is the Apostle of New Covenant of God Mission and Presiding Archbishop of Masterseed College Of Bishops and Ministers Network USA and Nigeria, a few days ago organized a press conference where he pleaded with the abductors of the 75 years old clergy to release him without further delay.
He threatened doom and disaster if they failed to do so within the next few days. And as God would have it, the news came from the Diocese that he has been released. Reacting to the development, an elated Archbishop Emmadavid Okafoagu, who was cornered at Ndiakwu, Otolo, yesterday, was asked about his mood and he replied:
“We thank God. It’s God that honoured our prayers and also honoured his humble and dedicated servant. And we are glad to hear of his release. We ask God to forgive those people who held him hostage, as they obeyed our voice. We pray that whatever it is that pushed them into such a terrible situation of abducting a man of God should be uprooted from their lives. They should return to God and serve Him.”
On his words of encouragement to the Archbishop, he replied: “Since he has dedicated his life to the service of God and humanity, he will never be put to shame. As I said in that write-up, the land of Nnewi, which has favoured him, can never disfavour him. He is a good man to us. He doesn’t discriminate; whether you are a Pentecostal or Orthodox, he accepts everyone. Some people of his caliber don’t regard others, but he does. That is why God, who is God of all has also done this for him.”
Archbishop Emmadavid Okafoagu, however, blamed the government for the bad economic situation of the country, which has led the youths into all kinds of negative activities. He therefore prayed this year of Jubilee would bring in glad tidings and that God would force the governments to bring relief and jubilation to the lives of the citizens.
