The Young Progressives Party (YPP) senatorial candidate in the last National Assembly election, High Chief (Dr) Chinedu Umeadi has implored Anambra youths to aspire for highest hight possible in their academics.
High Chief Umeadi made this call on Wednesday during the 4th edition, 2023 science quiz award ceremony for Secondary Schools in Anambra State which held at Prof. Dora Akunyili Women Development Centre, Awka.
The YPP senatorial candidate urged the students to dream big and work hard noting that with hard work, the sky would be their beginning.
He also charged the students and the teachers to imbibe the culture of punctuality which according to him is the soul of business.
Earlier in his welcome address, Anereobi Ephraim Jekwu, Director, Science and Tech Department of PPSS, Awka recalled how High Chief Umeadi in 2020 took the gauntlet of sponsoring various developmental programs for the youths of the state without any form of persuasion.
The Science Quiz award according to Jekwu is an offshoot of the educational programs initiated in 2020 when the whole world was on it’s knees and in a state of hopelessness following the Covid 19 pandemic.
In her speech at the occasion, the Executive Chairman, Post Primary Schools Service Commission (PPSS), Prof. Mrs Nkechi Ikediugwu and the Executive Chairman, Anambra State Universal Basic Education Board (ASUBEB) Dr Mrs Vera Nkiru Nwadinobi commended the YPP senatorial candidate for floating a unique foundation exposes students to better skills in science and technology.
The duo described High Chief Umeadi as a passionate and compassionate philanthropist who is wired to help Anambra youths achieve their aspirations.
The PPSS Chairman also appealed to affluent Anambra people to borrow a leaf from Dr Umeadi who is already writing his name in marble in the sand of time by inspiring students to greater heights.
She also applauded the Anambra State governor, Prof Charles Soludo for creating conducive environment for learning and teaching in the state noting that the governor’s gesture of employing over five thousand teachers to boost the education sector is massive and unprecedented.
The Bishop of Awka Catholic Diocese, Most Rev Paulinus Chukwuemeka Ezeokafor who was the Special Guest of Honour for the award ceremony called for discipline among the students.
Bishop Ezeokafor pointed out that it is quite difficult for any student that is not discipline to study because of the simple fact that there are many distractions in the environment.
He admonished the students to pursue things that would help them actualize their dreams in life and not be carried away thef attractive things they would soon be tired of.
The Science Quiz award ceremony featured presentation of giant trophies to the overall best students in the JSS category and Senior cadre as well their schools.
The zonal winners were also recognized and awarded prizes.
