Anambra United Front (AUF) has debunked the rumoured defection of the group to African Democratic Congress (ADC).

The disclaimer was contained in a press statement signed by the State Secretary of AUF, Hon Ken Nkwocha made available to journalists on Friday.
The statement reads, “The attention of the Anambra United Front (AUF) has been drawn to a misleading publication circulating on the AUF WhatsApp platform, alleging the following:

“That eleven members of AUF have defected to the African Democratic Congress (ADC). That during this purported defection, Dr. Enendu addressed a crowd in support of the move.
“The AUF categorically refutes these claims and wishes to set the record straight:
“The eleven members mentioned merely attended a consultation meeting with Mr. Chuks Nwosu and his team.
“At no point during the meeting was defection, or any topic suggesting such, discussed or proposed by either party. The meeting was strictly consultative, aimed at exploring mutual understanding and cooperation—not political defection.
“It is highly regrettable that the ADC and its associates chose to misrepresent the purpose and outcome of the meeting, thereby misleading the public. It must be emphasized that no form of defection can take place without the knowledge and consent of the AUF leadership.
“The AUF remains a coalition of individuals of high integrity who cannot be swayed by political opportunism or short-term gains. We urge the general public to disregard the said publication, which was clearly crafted out of mischief and desperation.”
Hon Nkwocha pointed out that as the political climate intensifies ahead of the November 2025 gubernatorial election, it is natural for consultations and dialogue to occur across party lines.
He however said that such interactions should not be misconstrued.
