The Strike Force of Anambra State Vigilante Service (AVS) on Wednesday repelled an attempted attack by unknown gunmen on Amichi community in Nnewi-South LGA of Anambra State.
The fully armed gunmen who were said to be ten in number went into the sleepy community with three vehicles in the early hours of the day but were resisted by the vigilante operatives.
The vigilante operatives were said to have engaged the gunmen in a fierce gun duel after which two of the attackers were gun down, one captured alive while others escaped with gun injuries.
The gunmen however shot at the vehicle belonging to the vigilante operatives which caught fire immediately.
Sources claimed that none of the all conquering vigilante operatives sustained any injury during the gun battle.
Recall that on August 10, 2024, unknown gunmen in large number attempted to enter the state through Ezinifite, a border town with Imo State and were resisted by the gallant men of the Anambra State Vigilante Group Strike force, who allegedly gunned down over forty of the gunmen.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for Anambra State Command, Tochukwu Ikenga (SP) could not be reached for police angle of the report.
